Hi, I'm Rachael,
The photographer behind Storybook Photography, and for more than ten years, I've had the privilege of documenting some of life's most meaningful moments for thousands of Sydney families.
My love for photography has always been about more than creating beautiful images. It's about preserving connection, personality, and the little moments that often pass by far too quickly. The way your child reaches for your hand, the laughter that erupts between siblings, the quiet cuddle at sunset—these are the memories that become priceless over time.
Today, Storybook Photography focuses exclusively on outdoor photography sessions across the Hills District, Hawkesbury, and surrounding Sydney areas. I believe some of the most authentic family moments happen when children have room to explore, play, and simply be themselves. Nature provides the perfect backdrop for creating images that feel genuine, timeless, and full of life.
My approach is relaxed and guided rather than heavily posed. I'll gently direct you when needed, but my goal is never to create stiff or awkward photographs. Instead, I create an experience where your family can connect naturally while I document the real smiles, laughter, and love that make your family unique.
Most sessions take place during the golden hour before sunset, when the light is soft, warm, and incredibly flattering. Whether we're wandering through open fields, exploring bushland trails, enjoying riverside scenery, or capturing memories in one of Sydney's beautiful outdoor locations, I work to create images that feel natural, emotive, and true to your story.
As a mum myself, I understand that family life isn't always perfectly polished—and that's exactly what makes it beautiful. You don't need perfectly behaved children or model-worthy poses. You simply need to show up, spend time together, and trust the process.
My hope is that years from now, you'll look back on your photographs and remember not only how your family looked, but how this season of life felt.
